Microsoft has introduced the „Ultimate Performance“ power scheme to Windows 10 April 2018 Update. It’s based on the High-Performance power scheme, but it aims to squeeze out every bit of performance it can. This is how you can enable it.
What is the Ultimate Performance Power Plan?
Its Ultimate Performace power plan is designed to give an additional boost to systems that are high-powered (think servers and workstations) by optimizing the High-Performance power program. It’s designed with the intention of reducing or eliminating micro-latencies resulting from precise power management strategies. Micro-latency refers to the small amount of time between the time your OS determines that the hardware requires more power and the time it is able to provide the required power. While it may be just a fraction of an second, it may be a significant difference.
This Ultimate Performance plan eliminates the checking of hardware to determine what it needs to be powered up and allows the hardware consume every watt of power that it requires. Furthermore, any features that save power are turned off to boost performance further. This is why machines powered by batteries don’t have this feature in default, because it will consume more power and degrade the battery faster.
If you think this is a great idea for gaming Don’t get your hopes up.
Ultimate Performance plan Ultimate Performance plan improves speed on systems where hardware continuously changes between idle and inactive state. However, when you’re playing an activity, all of the hardware in your system is already working to create a world surrounding you. The only improvement you can expect to see will occur at the start-up stage but you could only get a boost of just a couple of frames per second. But, if you’re using video editing software as well as 3D design software that is loading up your system, you could be able to see a bigger improvement.
There’s a caveat to be aware of. By enabling this feature, you can increase the amount of energy your computer consumes If you think of using this plan for your computer, be sure that you’re connected every time.
